WHAT'S NEW
This year, we’ve also watched something new take shape: access. Our transportation program is expanding, reaching communities like Picuris Pueblo, the West Mesa, and Cerro—places where getting to the clinic isn’t always possible, but the need is just as great.
Recently, Deputy Rita from the Taos County Sheriff’s Department reached out about a situation on the West Mesa. A man named Richard was struggling. Without a working vehicle, he couldn’t bring his dogs in for care, and over time his small group had grown into a pack of 22.
Richard loves his dogs. They are his companions, his comfort, his connection to the world. We knew we had to help.
We added an extra surgery day, brought in additional staff and volunteers, and organized two vans for transport. In one dedicated day, 16 of Richard’s dogs received the care they needed.

When they returned home, Richard was there waiting. He greeted each one as they stepped out of the van—relieved, grateful, and trying hard to hold back tears.
Moments like this remind us why we do this work.
Some people believe that if you can’t afford a pet, you shouldn’t have one. But we believe something different. We believe that the love and companionship animals bring into our lives should not be limited by income. Pets are family. They provide comfort, purpose, and unconditional love.
That is why our services are free. Because everyone deserves that connection—and every animal deserves care.

Thank you for being part of this first year.
We couldn’t do this without you.
